Before scheduling a leak detection service do your research and know about the service you are getting. Not all leak detection companies essentially provide the same service or more importantly guarantee or warranty the same.

  1. Is the service Guaranteed? : meaning if you cannot find my leak will you still charge me? Good leak detection companies will not charge if they are unable to locate a leak. We have seen many a leak report where no leak was found and several attempts were made essentially with the clock running and no leak found.

  2. Is the service warrantied? 30 days? 60 days? This is important to know before engaging with a company what the terms are if a leak was found and fixed if a leak persists. The Aquaman warranty is good for 30 days and if a leak persists after one or two leaks were fixed we return as part of the same job. Other companies keep the clock running. This is important to ask about..

  3. Can you show me what is leaking? Some repair companies have their foot in the door so to speak doing leak detection when they have no business doing them. If a repair company cannot show you what is leaking or a video of what is leaking and it doesn’t make sense get a second opinion before spending thousands to fix a problem that may not be there.

  4. Do you have the capability to dive the pool? It still baffles us that some companies are out there doing leak detections in swimming pools without diving the pools! Yes their highly specialized equipment may sound and look cool but nothing beats the old fashioned way of diving a pool to thoroughly inspect things and see exactly what is leaking. If they can’t dive it find someone else!

  5. Whats included in the service fee? Does epoxy or plugging a leak come with the service? many times big leaks are relatively small in fixing and a tube of epoxy and a good leak detector can stop the waterloss the same day of service. Not every leak can be fixed this way but many of them can be! Ask about this!
